Truth 1: God is the creator and sustainer of the universe and everything in it, including you and me. We were created to enjoy Him, to find our complete joy and satisfaction in Him! Our full love and obedience to His commands is due Him.

Truth 2: We have sinned against God by disobeying his law. This has separated us from God and the joy and satisfaction that we can find in Him. The Bible tells us that, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) This means that we all stand guilty before Him. The Bible tells us that the wages of our sin is death and because God is just, no one who is guilty can go unpunished.

Truth 3: God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son. (John 3:16a) Jesus came to this earth, He grew up like we do, and he taught us many things about the Kingdom of God and how to live on this earth! (Much of what he did is recorded for us in the first 4 gospels of the New Testament!) But more than that, Jesus gave his life on earth for you and for me. Why did He do that?

Truth 4: Someone needed to pay for the sins that we have committed against God. The truth is that there are only two choices before us.
    1) We can pay the just penalty for our sins, but this is no small thing. The Bible tells us that we will spend an eternity in a place called hell, a lake of fire with weeping and gnashing of teeth. It is a place reserved for Satan and his demons and all those who have sinned against God.
    2) Jesus can pay for our sins through His death on the cross. He was perfect, He walked on this earth blameless and righteous. When He gave his life it wasn't for the sins He committed, it was for the sins of you and me. God poured out on Jesus His wrath that we deserved for our sins. We can accept that sacrifice on our behalf and then our sins are paid for too! We can confess our sins and ask for His forgiveness and know that we will be saved!

Truth 5: When I believe on Jesus I receive eternal life because God lays on Jesus the eternal punishment that I deserved. My relationship with my Creator (and now Savior) is restored to what it was intended to be; my sins no longer separate me from God! I now enter into a personal, intimate, love relationship with Christ! There is no other way to be right before God. That is why Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) This is the wonderful news of the gospel!

Truth 6: I will now want to live my life for God! It is a love relationship of obedience to what He has commanded. I will also want to tell others about this new life that has set me free and restored me into a right relationship with God! Even though I will continue to sin, there will be evidence in my life of growth! I will now confess my sins to God, not as a sinner to a Judge, but as a child to a Father! "This is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." John 17:3
